Robert Attardo is Special Counsel in the Litigation Department at the firm. He focuses his practice on environmental and construction issues, and business and real estate disputes. He is experienced in all phases of litigation and alternative dispute resolution methods, and possesses significant trial experience. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Attardo was a Trial Attorney for the United States Department of Justice.
Mr. Attardo received his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University. He is a graduate of East Rochester High School.
Representative Matters:

Defends claims of environmental contamination against a worldwide energy company, residential landlords, design professionals, construction contractors and manufacturers involving oil spills, lead paint, asbestos and various other chemical contaminations and exposures

Represents all participants in the construction industry (owners, developers, design professionals, contractors and suppliers) in a wide variety of matters, including contract disputes, mechanics’ lien claims, claims under performance and payment bonds, and trust fund claims, on private and public improvement projects

Counsels clients with the negotiation and drafting of construction contracts and subcontracts, purchase orders, standard terms and conditions, and credit applications

Community Involvement:
Recently, Mr. Attardo was elected to serve as President of the Rochester Rotary Club, one of the oldest and largest Rotary clubs in the world, from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. He will serve as President Elect the year before. At the present time, Mr. Attardo is a Vice President responsible for overseeing the Eastern Cities Dinner, Fellowship, Friendship, Happy Hour, Program and Rotary Award Committees. He also serves on the Centennial Celebration and Peter Formicola Sunshine Camp Golf Tournament Steering Committees.
For more than a decade, Mr. Attardo also has been volunteering with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, serving on a Gala fundraising committee, participating in “jailbird” Lock-Ups, and volunteering annually at the Jerry Lewis Telethon.
In the past, he served as a community member of the Board of Directors of the Rochester Oratorio Society, on the Board of Directors of the Cornell Club of Rochester, and for many years, as a Cub Scout Den Leader.

Mr. Attardo is admitted to practice law in all courts of the State of New York, as well as the United States District Courts for the Western and Northern Districts of New York and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of New York.
Professional Affiliations:
Mr. Attardo is a member of the Monroe County and New York State Bar Associations.
Other:
Mr. Attardo was honored with the “Forty Under 40” award from the Rochester Business Journal in 2005. The award recognizes men and women under the age of forty, who have achieved professional success and made significant contributions to our community.
The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International named him a Paul Harris Fellow in 2011.
He was co-editor of “Stars, Stripes and Statutes,” a compendium of Federal and State laws regarding patriotic subjects, which was sold on Amazon.com.
