F. Michael Ostrander is an Associate in the firm and a member of the Litigation Department. He concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation and employment law.

He attended the State University of New York College at Geneseo, graduating cum laude with a degree in International Relations.  He received his J.D. from the University of Buffalo School of Law and was an Articles Editor of the Buffalo Law Review.

Representative Matters:

  • Assisted in the representation of a local business in a dispute with a former employee regarding the employee's right to payments of shares of stock under his agreement with the business' predecessor-in-interest.
  • Assisted in the representation of a former employee and business owner with his former employer regarding the rights to his invention.
  • Assisted in the representation of a former employee regarding his rights to practice his profession in the Rochester area under his employment agreement and restrictive covenants with his previous employer.
  • Assisted in the representation of the purchaser of a business and employer in a dispute with the seller and former employee regarding compliance with the restrictive covenants in the sale and employment agreements.
  • Assisted in the representation of an employer in a dispute with a former employee regarding misappropriation of confidential information, theft of trade secrets, and unfair competition.
  • Assisted in the representation of a commercial property owner in obtaining a declaration that a binding contract had not been created and extinguishing an improperly filed notice of pendency so as to permit  the owner to consummate the sale of that property to a third-party.
  • Assisted in the representation of a partner in the dissolution of a partnership for the practice of medicine regarding breaches of fiduciary duty and the usurpation of partnership opportunities.

Community Involvement:

Mr. Ostrander is the Secretary of the Irondequoit Democratic Committee.

Bar Admissions:

Mr. Ostrander is admitted to practice in New York State Courts, the United States District Court for the Western District of New York, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
