At a Glance:

Katherine H. McGuire  has more than 20 years experience as a registered patent attorney and is a Partner in the firm's Business & Finance Department where she is Chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group.  She concentrates her practice on negotiating and preparing agreements relating to Intellectual Property including patent and know-how licenses, joint development, technical service, confidentiality and consulting agreements.  Ms.  McGuire has experience in all aspects of U.S. and foreign patent procurement, infringement and validity analysis and enforcement.

Prior to joining Woods Oviatt, Ms. McGuire was a partner at Jaeckle Fleischman and before that she was at Bausch & Lomb Incorporated for more than 10 years where she served as Senior Patent Counsel for various international business units.  She began her legal career in 1989 at the McGuire Law Offices in Syracuse, NY concentrating her practice in Patent and Trademark law.

Ms. McGuire is admitted to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; the state bars of New York State and Arizona; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Western Districts of New York.

Professional Affiliations:

Ms. McGuire is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, New York State Bar Association and The Rochester Intellectual Property Law Association (Past-President and Governor).

Ms. McGuire is the Co-Chair of The Rochester Chapter of the United States/Canada Licensing Executives Society.

Community Involvement:

Ms. McGuire works as a Volunteer Attorney for Volunteer Legal Services Project of Monroe County.
