Our attorneys counsel clients about guardianship as a means to protect their incapacitated loved ones who need help making decisions about and managing their personal affairs, including their living arrangements, health care needs, and financial arrangements.
For clients with developmental disabilities, we represent parents in establishing guardianships for their children. For older incapacitated individuals, we represent the individual or family members in court proceedings to determine if a guardian is needed, who the guardian should be, and what powers the guardian should have. After a guardianship has been approved, we counsel and assist the guardian in making regular reports to the court about how the personal and financial affairs of the incapacitated person have been handled.
