Dr. Jaen Andrews is a patent attorney consultant for the firm's Intellectual Property Group.

 

Dr. Andrews has over twenty years of experience in intellectual property law in both private practice and in industry, and over twenty years of experience as a research scientist.

 

 

Dr. Andrews' legal expertise encompasses all areas of intellectual property, including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret law.  She has prepared and prosecuted patent and trademark applications as well as filed copyright registrations, and assisted clients in a broad range of matters including patent, trademark, trade secret, and copyright procurement, enforcement, validity, infringement, and freedom to operate.  She has also been involved in technology evaluation and patent portfolio review as well as licensing and technology transfer and commercialization.  Her clients ranged from large corporations, small start ups,  individual inventors, and entrepreneurs.   She has worked both in corporations and in law firms, and has served as a law professor teaching and supervising the practical applications of intellectual property law.

 

 

Dr. Andrews' technical background includes all areas of biotechnology, including both animal and plant sciences and spanning subject matter from biochemistry, physiology, and cell biology to molecular genetics and genetic engineering.  She has held research positions at various universities in both the US  and abroad, as well as in industry.  She is an author of numerous technical articles, and given several national and international scientific presentations.

  

Dr. Andrews earned a B.S. in biology from Cornell University, and a Ph.D. in plant science, and then later a J.D., from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

Bar Admissions:

She is admitted to practice in Wisconsin and before the U.S. District Court (Western District of Wisconsin), and is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
