Mitchell S. Nusbaum

Managing Partner, Woods Oviatt Gilman LLP

Years in current role: 5

What are your priorities for 2023?

My top priority for 2023 is to continue bringing people — our employees, clients and community partners — back together, something we have been working hard to do in the past year. The pandemic has opened our eyes to new ways of working, but it also has led to more separation and isolation. Our firm culture has been built on the strength of our interpersonal relationships and collaborations, and we are enjoying being back together again both inside and outside of the office. In December, it was so nice to finally be able to enjoy our first firm holiday party since 2019.

What advice would you give young professionals in the Rochester business community?

Rochester is a vibrant city filled with culture, diversity and opportunity. At the same time, as a community, we face incredible challenges both social and economic. As professionals, we are deeply rooted in the fabric of our city and have both contributed to and benefitted from Rochester’s offerings. It is important to find ways to be of service to the broader community and provide support and leadership where possible. There are many organizations doing amazing work for our community. If you find one or two to support, you really can make a positive difference.

What is your favorite way to relieve stress?

Exercising and being outdoors are my antidotes to stress. I enjoy running, hiking and skiing. Lately, I have started playing pickleball, which I highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun new activity.
