Timothy P. Lyster Appointed United States Bankruptcy Judge for Western District of New York
Woods Oviatt Gilman LLP is proud to announce that Timothy P. Lyster, Partner and Practice Leader of the firm's Bankruptcy & Financial Reorganization Group, has been appointed as a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Western District of New York in Rochester.
The appointment was announced by Chief Judge Debra Ann Livingston of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, who cited Tim's extensive bankruptcy experience, distinguished reputation within the Western District bankruptcy community, and prior service as a law clerk in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of New York.
Throughout his career, Tim has built a respected practice representing clients in complex Chapter 11 reorganizations, secured financing transactions, asset sales, commercial loan restructurings, and bankruptcy-related litigation. Since joining Woods Oviatt Gilman in 2014, he has served as a trusted advisor to businesses, lenders, creditors, and stakeholders navigating financial challenges and restructuring matters.
Before joining the firm, Tim served as a law clerk to several Bankruptcy Judges in the Western District of New York, providing him with a unique perspective and deep understanding of the bankruptcy court system. He has also been actively involved in numerous professional and community organizations and has been recognized for his commitment to pro bono service.
Tim will officially assume his duties as a United States Bankruptcy Judge later this summer. Woods Oviatt Gilman congratulates him on this remarkable accomplishment and thanks him for his years of service to the firm, its clients, and the legal community.
