James G. Pohlman is Of Counsel in the Firm's Intellectual Property Practice Group. His national practice focuses on assisting clients in all areas of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters. He works closely with clients ranging from start-up and emerging companies to large international corporations, leveraging familiarity with both sides of the patent prosecution process to promptly secure robust patents that will withstand post grant scrutiny, to protect and enforce their rights inan efficient and cost effective manner.

He is a registered Patent Attorney and has extensive experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in the electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and software arts, as well as conducting patentability searches. Some exemplary areas that he has worked in include wireless communication devices (5G, 4G+, Wi-Fi 6), network devices, Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices, wearable devices, medical devices, artificial intelligence, machine learning, processor architecture, semiconductor fabrication, secure communications, power management, printing devices, solar devices, oil field devices, memory management and access, and customer relationship management (CRM) software. He also has experience in providing freedom-to-operate, patent infringement, and validity opinions.

Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Pohlman was an associate at Jefferson IP Law, LLP in its Washington, D.C. office, a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Technology Center 2100, a summer associate at Novak, Druce, & Quigg, LLP at its Houston, Texas office, and as a technical specialist at Patterson and Sheridan LLP in its Houston, Texas office, where he concentrated his practice in patent preparation and prosecution and IPR proceedings.
